According to the national cyber security organization CERT-In, Android’s “Daam” virus compromises personal information including call logs, contacts, history, and camera data on mobile devices. By installing apps from unreliable/unknown sources or third-party websites, Android botnets propagate. Clicking on “untrustworthy websites” and “untrustworthy links” has been discouraged by CERT-In.
The central agency advises that the “Daam” malware compromises caller ID and cameras by infiltrating the phone. Android malware called ‘Dam’ hacks mobile phones’ sensitive data like call records, contact information, past activities done on the phone, and cameras. The virus is capable of evading anti-virus programs and launching ransomware attacks on targeted devices, according to the ‘Indian Computer Emergency Response Team’ or ‘CERT-In’. In its consultation, the National Cyber Security Agency provided this information. The organization is the government technology arm in charge of guarding the internet from online threats including phishing and hacking. According to the agency, apps or third-party websites obtained from questionable or unknown sources are used to proliferate the Android botnet. ‘Daam’ can also breach contact lists, gain access to cameras, change device passwords, take screenshots, steal SMS, download/upload files, and more, it was said. Avoiding accessing “untrustworthy websites” and clicking on “untrustworthy links” is suggested by the agency. It warned against downloading “anti-virus” and “anti-spyware” software and cautioned against responding to text messages from “suspicious” phone numbers.
